Technology for Students

Maine Learning Technology Initiative

Lincoln, like other schools in our district, is a part of the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI).  MLTI began in 2009.

It was designed so that students in middle school and high school have access to one-to-one technology. We believe that student's education benefits greatly from a thoughtful balance of technology and other methods of learning.

Currently as part of MLTI, 7th and 8th graders are given laptops -- MacBook Airs. These devices are property of the State of Maine. Sixth grade students also receive access to laptops, also MacBook Airs. These devices are a part of the Portland Public Schools Technology Program.

All the school issued devices are educational tools rather than personal devices.  These tools help our students to expand their skills in technology integration, research, and presentation.

The following documents are for all students using a device at Lincoln and need to be signed and returned to school at the beginning of the school year.
