An Agenda for the evening with (4) attached Mini-Grant proposals were distributed to all in attendance.

Welcome!  All were welcomed by Co-presidents Lisa and Kim. They began with an update from the chairs of all subcommittees.

Bake Sale:  Deb Barlock, Chair was unable to attend but reported that the December 2007 bake sale brought in $104.40.  The January sale was set for this upcoming Friday.

Box Tops for Education:  Barry Lynn Moreau will be unavailable to chair this committee.  We will look for another volunteer to head this project.  Kim, Mary Ellen and Drinda agreed to meet before the next PTFO meeting to discuss this project as well as potential fundraisers in the horizon.

Dance Committee:  Rita Siavelis, Chair said that the LMS dance is scheduled for Friday, February 29.  The DJ is booked and a theme was discussed.  She would look into the art department providing decorations such as posters, giant silver snowflakes, lights.  Drinda offered a strobe light to set on stage.  Lisa will look into the glow necklaces for students to purchase at the dance.    Chaperones will wear a color-coded necklace for identification purposes.  Rita will e-mail for volunteers as time grows nearer.  Snacks and drinks still need to be decided.

Calendar:  Lori Porter, Chair was unable to attend but reported that the calendars went out to the students today.  Each student received 3 raffle tickets to sell.   Incentives were provided as follows:  1st student to bring in 10 sold raffle tickets by Friday, January 11 receives 4 tickets to the Portland Pirates Hockey Game on Saturday, January 12.  Also, any student who sells 10 raffle tickets by January 25 will be entered into a drawing for other great prizes.  We are expecting this fundraiser to be a great success.   It was suggested that a “Thank You” letter be sent to all donating vendors.

Treasurer Report:  Treasurer, Mary Ellen Randall gave the updated report – current balance $1,918.64.

THANK YOU Mary Ellen for quickly pulling together a bake sale fundraiser at the Odyssey of the Mind event.  It brought in $62.50.  Mary Ellen questioned whether to run this sale again.  It was offered that perhaps with appropriate prepare time and promotion with the original Odyssey events, it could be more successful, as many of the participants and families brought their own snacks and drinks.  An event to revisit.

Mini-Grant Proposals:  Four (4) written proposals were presented to the PTFO.  Much discussion took place with regard to each proposal as well as the criteria to be considered upon decision-making, i.e., projects that benefit the entire student body, cultural/community factors.  It was also agreed that the PTFO would design a template format that would be available to all teachers/committees/etc. submitting proposals.  This protocol would provide a clear vision of any proposal to the PTFO.

(1)    Proposal: $300.00 - ELL Field Trip – Cultural Exploration: Movie

$300.00 was granted conditional upon return if the field trip did not take place.  Additionally, a feedback form will be requested.
