The book is about an orphan girl who lived in a foster home with her uncles and cousins.  Sophie went on a boat trip to Bompie’s house in England with her 3 uncles and 2 cousins. Each person on the boat had to teach something to everyone. Sophie told Bomphie stories which been told by Bompie when she was little. One of the stories wasn’t about Bomphie. It was about Sophie. Along the way the Wanderer, the boat got hit by a storm.

Review:
Imagine you went on a boat adventure and you’re a girl.  How would it feel not taking a shower, not getting enough sleep, having no friends around and staying with your annoying cousin? An annoying cousin that always gets on your nerves and asks about your past. You wouldn't be able to last with that person long. Sophie is a girl who went on an adventure on a sailboat, called The Wanderer but it’s also the book title too, by Sharon Creech.
Sophie, a 13-year-old girl is on a boat adventure with her three uncles, Uncle Mo, Uncle Stew, and Uncle Dock and her two cousins, Brian and Cody. There was one part when Sophie told a story to Cody about a little girl. Everyone on the sailboat has taught each other things. Sophie has been telling Bompie's stories.
When they arrived at Bompie's home, he was sick and Bompie doesn't remember things. Sophie thought if she tells his stories, it will help him. Sophie tells the stories but one of the stories wasn't familiar to Bompie. The story actually belongs to Sophie.
Sophie loves going on an adventure where she can explore and learn new things. Her adventures help her to know her past. Without having Bompie being sick, she wouldn't realize one of the stories she told to Bompie is actually her story.
