Summary:
This
book is about a teacher named Mrs. Olinski and four sixth grade students
named: Noah, Nadia, Julian, and Ethan. They have a tea party at Julians
house every Saturday at 4 oclock. At one of the
tea parties, Nadia chose The Souls to be the name for their
group. Mrs. Olinski was the coach for the sixth grade Academic Bowl team.
She never knew how she chose The Souls to be on her team; she had answers
for everything except that. There might be a chance for the The Souls to
beat the seventh grade and eighth grade teams.
Review:
E.L.
Konigsburg really brought out the reality that kids go through in The View
from Saturday. The four students didnt always get along. It took time
for them to adjust to each other and from then on they were close. Before,
Nadia and Noah would always argue, Ethan didnt want to be seen with
Julian because he thought Julian was a little bit weird. All of them
grew past that.
Step
into the life of Nadia, the pretty and smart red head, Noah, the guy who
always has something to say, Julian, the new guy who moved in to the Sillington
house, Ethan, the guy who wishes he was like his brother and Ms. Olinski,
the teacher who chose the four students to be representatives for the sixth
grade Academic Bowl. Together they all will make history.
When
Julian secretly invited Nadia, Noah and Ethan to come to his house for a
tea party, that was only the begging of their friendship. They went to Julians
every Saturday at four oclock for a tea party. One day when they were
peeling off wallpaper, Noah said who every peeled off the longest
strip would get a prize. Nadia was the one that peeled off the longest strip
and the prize was that she got to chose a name for their group. Nadia chose,
The Souls.
Ever
since then The Souls have been traveling together and competing in the Academic
Bowl. Together they study during lunch time and any time they can for the
Academic bowl. They really become four best friends.
