Review:
Imagine you just found the key to a treasure chest! You get on a ship and sail to the mysterious island. At sea you realized that the crew on your ship are pirates and are planning to kill everyone that they don't trust on the ship to get the map for the treasure. You tell your few friends that you have on the ship and make a plan to stay alive.
That’s what happens to Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
In this book Jim Hawkins finds a chest with a treasure map in it. The chest belonged to an old sea man that had died unexpectedly. Jim found Dr. Livsey, a close friend of the family, and the squire who is Dr. Livsey’s friend, and they set sail to find the deserted island. Jim found out too late that the crew that are on the ship with them are pirates! They to want the treasure and don’t mind killing for it.
One exciting moment in the book was after everyone was on the island, or that's what Jim thought. He went down to the water in the middle of the night to move the Hispaniola, the ship they sailed over on, to some place that the pirates wouldn't think of going. After Jim paddled out on a rickety skiff he cut the anchor rope and climbed up the side of the ship. He was still surprised to see that no one was on the deck. He heard a noise in the corner. It was a crew mate.  Jim helped him bandage his bloody arm. He helped Jim sail the Hispaniola safely into a cove on the other side of the island. The man asked Jim to get him some rum in the captain’s quarters. Jim suspected that he wanted him to leave so as he went to the captain’s area he looked through a window and just as he thought, the mate got up and grabbed a knife and then sat back down where he was before. When Jim came back with the rum he sat down and pretended that nothing was wrong. All of a sudden the pirate came at him with the knife. Jim got out his gun and shot him; he fell off the side of the ship staining the water with his blood.
Aside from some bloody parts, this book is action packed, suspenseful story that I think anyone would enjoy. If you like fictional stories that grab you and make you want to keep reading, you should read Treasure Island.
