This book is about a girl named Hattie. She lives in a small town and doesn’t want to go anywhere. Her grandparents try to make her go to camps in bigger towns but she won’t go. The summer that Hattie turned twelve, her disabled uncle came to her house. She was a little nervous because she had never met him before. When the uncle comes, it opens up her world because he always wants to do so much. You will find out how he does that if you read this book.

Review:
What if your uncle that you’ve never seen shows up in town and everyone calls him a freak? This is from the book I just read,  A Corner of the Universe. I thought that it was a great story and I enjoyed just about every part of it. It was about a young girl named Hattie Owen who learns that there are secrets in her family that she could have never dreamed of. When his school closes down, Hattie’s uncle Adam comes back to town to live with his parents.

Hattie didn’t even know that she had an uncle and soon sees why. Her uncle was mentally disabled and was at a school where all the people around him had a problem ,but the school closes down so he has to come and live with Hattie’s parents. I thought that the characters in this book were very well developed because the author showed you the characters different sides of things throughout the book. When something would happen in the story, you usually knew what Hattie thought of it and you could conclude what the other characters did because of their actions. This was a very deep book that had a lot of meaning.

I think that this was a great book and you should read it to find out what happens that makes it so sad. Ann M. Martin does a great job with the characters and makes you want to be there. So you should read this book!
